Christmas just wouldn't be the same without a few of the traditional carols, and you can enjoy the music while supporting a great cause at this year's Carols by Candlelight.

Held at Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl on December 24, Carols by Candlelight is a great time to come together with your nearest and dearest to celebrate Christmas tradition.

As one of the most family friendly events in Melbourne, you can look forward to a jam packed lineup of great entertainment and classic Christmas music.

Mantra has plenty of holiday accommodation in the area to help you get to and from the event easily, with hotels located right in the city such as Mantra 100 Exhibition.

Whether you attend the main event or the rehearsal night preview, there's plenty to get excited about as Carols by Candlelight marks its 76th outing in 2013.

What is Carols by Candlelight all about?

Carols by Candlelight is held by Vision Australia, with proceeds from the event going towards the organisation's Children's Services branch.

The money helps to support access to vital services for children who are blind or have low vision, so you can contribute to an important cause while you're sitting back and enjoying the evening's festivities.

A veritable feast of Christmas entertainment awaits you this year, as Anthony Callea and Rachael Leahcar return as the ambassadors for this much-loved event.

There will be a variety of Australia's top entertainers taking the stage at the Music Bowl to perform both contemporary and traditional versions of all the Christmas classics, and as night falls all the candles will light up the venue with a soft glow.

You can attend the main event on December 24 or get a preview of Carols by Candlelight for a cheaper price at the December 23 rehearsal night.

Tickets are priced from $35 but children under three go in free, so why not bring the whole family along?
