If you're an outdoorsy bunch, Lorne is the perfect place to explore some of Australia's most beautiful surrounds. The Great Otway National Park will provide a stunning day out for the young and old, and is complete with ferny gullies, rugged coastlines, stunning waterfalls and tranquil lakes.

Keen fishermen may want to cast a line out from the Lorne Pier, where you may be lucky enough to catch trevally, barracuda and whiting. There are plenty of bike trails nearby too, along with surfing and kayaking lessons. If that all sounds a bit too adventurous for you, why not simply pack a picnic and settle in to enjoy the sunshine?

As for keeping the little ones entertained, there are plenty of activities for the younger members of your family. Mantra Lorne offers Kids Club sessions during the school holidays this summer, with exciting activities including treasure hunts, mini Olympics and sandcastle competitions.

There's a trampoline park next door to Mantra Lorne to amuse the kids. The patrolled Lorne Beach is right at your doorstep and between December to January the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club Nippers program is a great way to get the kids active and confident in the surf.
