Enjoy country music this month in Canberra. Get your hat and boots ready for Canberra's Country Blues and Roots Festival

Locals and tourists in Canberra this month will find themselves faced with something truly exciting - a three day festival celebrating all things country, blues and roots.

The Canberra Country Blues and Roots Festival kicks off at Hall Polocrosse Grounds on November 15, and runs until November 17. You can camp onsite or simply attend whichever days you like.

If your idea of fun doesn't involve camping, there's plenty of more comfortable holiday accommodation options nearby. Check out Mantra on Northbourne for a stylish and convenient base from which to explore the festival.

If you're planning to take your family along, you're in luck. Children under 13 years of age can attend the festival for free!

As for the entertainment, you'll be spoilt for choice. Enjoy great Australian and international artists such as James Blundell and Carter and Carter perform a mix of classic hits and new music.

Your ears will be delighted by sounds of bluegrass, country rock, swing, blues and bush ballads, but great music is not the only thing on offer at the event.

There will be onsite workshops for both music and dance, public discussions, talent quests, dancing and games for you to get involved in.

The weather is likely to be hot and sunny, so make sure you bring your sunhats and sunscreen. Rain is rare in Canberra during November, however it always pays to bring a plastic poncho in case things do get wet.

If you're all set to enjoy the event but can't bear the thought of leaving your pampered pony at home, you're in luck. The Canberra Country Blues and Roots festival is the only urban festival in the country to have facilities for horses overnight, so there's no reason to say neigh to this fantastic event.
