The weather's getting warmer, the sunblock's coming out and that can only mean one thing - the KFC T20 Big Bash League is back in business.

The Big Bash competition is an absolute highlight on any sport-lovers calendar. Whether or not you know anything about cricket, you're bound to enjoy the fast-paced action of a Twenty20 match.

For those who aren't familiar with Twenty20 cricket, you're in for a treat. It's a condensed form of one of Australia's most loved sports that promises plenty of drama, action and edge-of-your-seat madness. It's all about scoring the most runs in the shortest amount of time possible (20 overs, to be precise) so look out for big hits, dramatic catches and all of the big-arena atmosphere you can expect from a live sporting match.

"For anyone taking the family away on a summer holiday and wondering what to do in Melbourne this December, head along to the opening match of the Big Bash league.

Sydney locals and visitors alike can sink their teeth into a heated match-up between the Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder at the Sydney Cricket Ground on December 21.

This will be a game to truly test allegiances - the Thunder describe themselves as the "real Sydney" and represent hard working families from Australia's heartland, whereas reigning champions the Sixers take on a more glamorous persona and are vocal about their desire to be the best. If you simply can't choose who to support, why not cheer for both? Whoever wins, Sydney will come out on top.
