If you're an outdoors person and you've got an upcoming holiday planned in Darwin, you'll be spoiled for choice with all of the natural wonders on display around the Northern Territory capital.

Trek about in the striking natural parks nearby, get up close and personal with local wildlife or get a thrill with a unique croc experience - Darwin has it all for you to enjoy.

Make friends with a croc

If you've got a taste for adventure you'll definitely want to stop by Crocosaurus Cove, right in the heart of Darwin City, for an experience unlike any other.


"Swimming with the crocs is all very well, but if you'd prefer more of a low-key experience trekking around some of the Northern Territory's finest natural parks, Kakadu or Litchfield is a must-visit.


Here, you can get a whole new view of the saltwater crocodiles Australia is famous for. Hold a baby croc in your arms, or have a look at the Top End Turtle and Barramundi, Sawfish and Whiprays displays.

If you really want to get your adrenaline pumping, hop into the Cage of Death and come face to face with saltwater crocs - an experience you'll never forget!

Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks

Swimming with the crocs is all very well, but if you'd prefer more of a low-key experience trekking around some of the Northern Territory's finest natural parks, Kakadu or Litchfield is a must-visit.

Kakadu National Park is home to a variety of ecosystems, from open forest and floodplains to mangroves and coastal areas. The area has been home to Aboriginal people for over 50,000 years and boasts many beautiful rock art sites.

Another great destination is the Litchfield National Park. Located 130km from Darwin, it features stunning waterfalls cascading down from the iconic sandstone Tabletop Range.
