The World Cup is going to be held in Melbourne in November. Watch the masters compete at the World Cup of Golf in Melbourne

All eyes will be on Melbourne in November as it hosts the annual World Cup of Golf tournament at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club, and if you're a golfing fan this is one of the events in Melbourne you won't want to miss!

This year marks the first time that the tournament has returned to Australia since 1988, so it's the perfect opportunity to watch all the action live!

All about the World Cup

The World Cup of Golf is sanctioned by the International Federation of PGA Tours, which is also responsible for other World Golf Championships.

The tournament will be played from November 21-24 at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club, one of the top destinations for competitive golf in the country, and Mantra has plenty of holiday accommodation nearby to make your stay easier.

"In 2013, the World Cup tournament will feature individual stroke-play competition as well as a team component, so there's plenty to keep golfing fans excited throughout the four-day event.

Mantra on Jolimont is placed right in the heart of Melbourne's sporting and cultural hub, while Mantra Southbank is also close to many of Melbourne's most well known arts venues.

This year, the club has the exciting responsibility of hosting two major golfing events back-to-back: the 2013 Australian Masters from November 14-17 and the World Cup tournament.

During the competition, 60 of the world's best golfers will battle it out on the sandbelt course at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club for a prize purse of $8 million (US).

In 2013, the World Cup tournament will feature individual stroke-play competition as well as a team component, so there's plenty to keep golfing fans excited throughout the four-day event.

"Melbourne is the pride of Australia when it comes to major events, and we would argue rivals any city in the world in that regard," Victorian Premier Denis Napthine said in a statement earlier this year.

"Today's announcement is another exciting chapter for Melbourne, and we eagerly anticipate the World Cup in November, when we can once again showcase all that Victoria has to offer to the event's players and fans."
