The exhibition showcases some of the most exciting archaeological discoveries that have been made over the past 100 years, and many museums in Peru have also lent some of their own fascinating items to the National Gallery.

According to a recent Canberra Times interview with Senior Curator Christine Dixon, the oldest piece on show in the exhibition is a carved idol that has been dated to 1,000 BC. Another highlight to look out for is a 1,500-year-old feather cloak that was preserved in a tomb in the desert.
