Five reasons to plan a Queensland weekend getaway

Posted By Holly On July 26, 2013

Getting away for a weekend to spend some time in the sun is just one great reason why you should.Five reasons to plan a Queensland weekend getaway.

Weekend getaways hardly take any planning at all, and can have a great effect on your overall well-being.

There are plenty of Mantra hotels, holiday apartments and resorts in Brisbane and other Queensland cities, so here are our top five reasons why you should check them out and plan your getaway this weekend.

Spend time with family and friends

Between work, school, sports, hobbies and individual down time, we rarely get to spend as much time as we'd like with those we love the most.

A weekend getaway means you won't have to request time off work, or write notes to get the kids out of school.

Getting away together - even for just a couple of days - will give you plenty of time to have that catch up that you've been so meaning to have. Take a camera with you and snap plenty of pictures of your adventures so you can reminisce about them and show your colleagues!

See something new

Who says you have to take an overseas experience to see something new? Most of the time it's the places closest to us that we see the least.

We often even meet international tourists who have visited more of the surrounding area than we have.

So pick a place you've never been to before, or even just visit somewhere that you have been already, but take a holiday there with fresh eyes. We often leave the tourist spots for the 'tourists', but there's no reason you can't see the best of what a city has to offer even if you've only travelled from a few hours away.

Take a break from life

The nine to five routine can get a bit tedious. Very tedious, in fact.

Break up the drudgery between summer holiday season with the occasional weekend away. Leave the laptop behind, turn the mobile off (when you're not using it to meet up with friends), swap the corporate gear for bikinis and boardies and get away from it all.

Staying somewhere that isn't home is a big part of this, as anywhere that doesn't remind you that of chores on a daily basis is a holiday in itself.

Give yourself something to look forward to

Get out a calendar, hang it up somewhere obvious, and put a big red circle around a weekend.

Then put big, red circles on all the calendars in your house.

Looking forward to a holiday can sometimes be the only thing that gets us through a tough week, and gives us a reason to save a little now so we can spend a little then.

Having a getaway planned is a great motivator to get through your week and your work so you can enjoy yourself even more when those red circles finally arrive!

Follow the sunshine

Lastly, sometimes our home cities just refuse to shine.

Every week the weather reports seem to have far too many puffy grey things and not nearly enough happy yellow sun on the screen.

So why not pick a place that seems to get more sunshine than everywhere else, and just go for it? It will give you a chance to dig out your swimmers, hats and thongs - just don't forget the sunscreen!

Mantra has resorts, hotels and holiday apartments throughout Queensland, so wherever you go you'll have plenty of options when you're deciding where to stay.
