From October 5-6 this year, head on down to Canberra for 25 hours of non-stop action at the Scott Australian Mountain Bike Championships.

As this year marks the 25th anniversary of Canberra Off-Road Cyclists (CORC), the country's largest mountain bike club, the championships have been extended by one hour from their normal 24-hour duration.

That means competitors will get an extra 60 minutes to push themselves to their personal best, so this is one event for cycling fans that's not to be missed!

The CORC Scott Australian Mountain Bike Championships

Held at Stromlo Forest Park in the Australian Capital Territory, the Scott Australian Mountain Bike Championships is one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar each year, and the largest race of its kind in the world. Since its debut in 1999, the event has always been hosted by the CORC club.

Kicking off at 11am on October 5 and finishing at 1pm the next day, the 25 hour race promises to be an exhilarating, gruelling and action-packed event.

Teams of riders will do their best to tackle a challenging course filled with difficult terrain and more than a few obstacles - but that's the beauty of mountain biking! It's expected that more than 2,500 riders and 8,000 spectators will participate in the race this year.

In 2013, there will be five riders who have competed in all of the CORC 24 hour races and this year they will be honoured before the race starts for their "360 hours of persistence".

The CORC Scott Australian Mountain Bike Championships are a must-see for cycling enthusiasts, so make sure you're there to catch all of the action as it unfolds.
