Brisbane Oktoberfest 2013

Held over two weekends in October, the Brisbane Oktoberfest has plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

The event has its origins as a family celebration and is run by two Australian-German families who do their best to cater for more than 35,000 people who attend the festival every year.

From October 11-13 and 18-20, you can enjoy the taste of handcrafted-beers that have been created using recipes that are hundreds of years old. The flagship beers to look at for at the Brisbane Oktoberfest are the Lagerbier and Weissbier, which are made especially for the festival from the 340-year-old Bavarian Tucher Brewery.

There will also be a range of non-alcoholic drinks and some great carnival rides for the kids to enjoy, including a jumping castle, giant slide, dodgem cars and more. Feel free to bring them along with you for the family-friendly 'Sunday Funday'.

With live entertainment provided by a traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest Band and the Alpenrosen Dance Group, you'll never run out of things to see or do at the festival this year.

There's also a 'Pork Knuckle of Destiny' competition for the brave to partake in with all proceeds going to charity and the Miss Oktoberfest and Strongman competitions to look out for.
