If you're moving into one of Mantra's Live@ hotels in Melbourne such as Mantra on Russell or Mantra Southbank, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and about and discover the best the city has to offer.

For those who like to do a bit of shopping, Melbourne's weekend markets are sure to satisfy. With a range of arts, crafts, food and more on display, you'll be spoiled for choice - it's a great way to meet new people, too!

Here are a few of the must-visit weekend markets happening around Melbourne:

Queen Victoria Market

Located at 513 Elizabeth Street, the Queen Victoria Market has been going strong since it was opened in 1878. With all of this history behind it (plus a great range of bargains to be found) it's definitely a must-visit on your first weekend in the city.

Here, you can find fresh seafood and local produce, clothing, toys, jewellery, souvenirs and more spread out across the various Market Precincts. Browse the Deli Hall, Elizabeth Street Shops, The Meat Hall and more to snap up some great deals.

The market is only closed on Mondays and Wednesdays, and on the weekend it's open from 6am-3pm on Saturday and 9am-4pm on Sunday.

Bend and Snap Market

Held on the last Sunday of every month, the Bend and Snap Market is found at 361 Little Lonsdale Street and showcases the finest design work of local creatives - with plenty of opportunities for you to get involved as well.

Browse the stalls of illustrators, fashion designers, jewellers and textile artists, or have a go at some crafts yourself with the 'Crafternoon Corner'. There's also a cafe to enjoy once you've had your fill of the stalls.

Fed Square Book Market

A must-visit for any bookworm, the Fed Square Book Market is held weekly in the Atrium at Fed Square, with over 5,000 new and pre-loved titles to feast your eyes on.

There are always plenty of books on display, so don't hesitate to immerse yourself in reader heaven and browse the latest offerings from local book dealers, authors and illustrators.
